DAEDALUS AND ICARUS
In Agia Galini, you can also find the Cave of Daedalus, where, according to myth, Daedalus hid while being pursued by King Minos. Together with his son Icarus, he managed to escape to freedom by flying with handmade wings fixed using wax.
The rock from which Daedalus and Icarus are said to have taken off is located on the right side of the harbor, facing the sea—still symbolically watching them depart on their fateful journey.
At this site, visitors will also find two statues depicting Daedalus and Icarus as they prepare for their flight. The area is easily accessible and offers a strong visual connection to the myth.
