KALOI LIMENES BEACH

Kaloi Limenes Beach is located about 75 km southwest of Heraklion, near the village of Pigaidakia, in the region of the Asterousia Mountains. It is one of the few coastal areas in this rugged region that can be accessed via a paved road.

To reach it, visitors typically drive from the village of Pompia in the Messara Plain, continue to Pigaidakia, and then follow the road to Kaloi Limenes. The route is particularly scenic, offering impressive views of the wild and untouched landscape of the Asterousia range. Alternative access is also possible via dirt roads from Sivas and the Monastery of Odigitria, or from Platia Peramata.

The area is known for its beautiful and tranquil beaches. As the name “Kaloi Limenes” (meaning “Good Harbors”) suggests, the sea here is usually calm, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

To the west lies “Psili Ammos” (Fine Sand), a sandy beach with shallow waters, ideal for families with children, as well as the smaller beach of Agios Pavlos.
To the east is “Makria Ammos” (Long Sand), the longest beach in the area, suitable for swimming and diving. Further east, visitors will find Chrysostomos Beach, where the ruins of the ancient city of Lassea are located.

Kaloi Limenes offers a quiet and safe environment, making it an excellent destination for those seeking a relaxing holiday by the crystal-clear waters of southern Crete.
