LENTAS – SEASIDE VILLAGE

Lentas is a remote coastal village located about 74 km south of Heraklion, on the southern slopes of the impressive Asterousia Mountains. It is a mildly developed tourist destination, ideal for those seeking peaceful and relaxing holidays.

The village can be accessed from Agii Deka, near Mires, via the village of Miamou, following a narrow paved road. The route crosses the rugged mountain landscape and descends from an altitude of around 1,000 meters down to sea level, offering breathtaking panoramic views over the Libyan Sea.

The surrounding area is known for its many beaches, several of which are popular among naturists. The main beach of Lentas lies in front of the village and is naturally protected by Cape Psamidomouri to the east and the iconic Cape Lion to the west.

This beach once served as the old port of Lentas, which has now been relocated to Loutra. Today, it is the busiest beach in the area, lightly organized with basic facilities such as umbrellas, sunbeds, showers, and some water sports options. Along the beachfront, visitors will also find taverns and accommodation.

A unique feature of the beach is the presence of ducks that often wander around the area. Additionally, the endangered loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) nests on the beach between May and September.

For those seeking more privacy and seclusion, nearby beaches such as Diskos and Loutra offer quieter alternatives.
